Seaside Family House

I enjoyed looking at this beach house which is in (and on the cover of) the latest Inside Out magazine (November/December 2013). The house was decorated as a Christmas feature, however I liked looking at it as it would be on a daily basis - a relaxed and stylish seaside family home.

Armadillo & Co Junior Collection

Nest Weave - Awning Stripe in Celadon/Natural and made in hemp.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Armadillo & Co rugs last week. While I was already aware of this range and had recommended these rugs to several clients, it wasn't until last week where I met with Jackie, state manager for New Zealand and parts of Australia, that I really 'got' Armadillo & Co. I am now a fan.

There are three main collections - Junior, Earth and Designer (there are more collections on the way next year - I managed to squeeze a few secrets out of Jackie!) and all rugs are woven from sustainable natural fibres, mainly hemp or New Zealand wool, by artisans in India.

Armadillo & Co was founded four years ago by friends Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst and this company has gone from strength to strength within a short time. What I like is the philosophy of Armadillo & Co - they believe in combining aesthetics with ethics, so every rug embraces Fair Trade practices and all purchases benefit the local schools in the weavers' villages. "We aim for our rugs to lie lightly on this earth." Top marks.

Here are some rugs from the Junior collection - beautifully styled from the Armadillo & Co catalogues.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

Check out the cool Beach Club at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, Sydney. Recently refurbished, I'm loving the fresh and retro aqua colour they've used throughout as well as the overall super relaxed vibe. Getting in the mood for summer!

A Place Called Home

A Place Called Home summery and colourful

Happy New Year! I am back in the office today and ready to tackle another year ahead. I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoyed a relaxing break. I'm looking forward for the 'real' summer weather over the next few months and have several cool projects to work on.

Here is the Bondi apartment belonging to Australian stylist, Jason Grant. Last year he released his book, A Place Called Home, in which he teaches how to decorate your home just like a stylist. The overall vibe of the book is fresh, summery and colourful.

Mark Tuckey Egg Cup Stool

Here is the latest piece of furniture that I just love - it is called the  Mark Tuckey egg cup stool. I had my eye on this piece last year as it popped up in various interiors I had admired.

It's a gorgeous simple form which can be used as a stool or a side table. I saw it again this morning and I still really like it! A good sign that it is meant to be - so onto the wish list it goes. Now just got to figure out a way to get one from Melbourne to my home in Wellington...

Scandinavian Inspired Home in Melbourne

I have previously posted a stylish St Kilda apartment by Whiting Architects before and here is another of their projects that I've just discovered this morning via Nordic Design.

There are some lovely moments in this Scandinavian influenced house in Melbourne filled with pieces from Muuto and Hay. I like the dark barn-inspired exterior and the bathrooms. Nice.
