Elegant Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces with Budget

Don't let your home's little footprint define it; learn how to do more with less! Maximize the tiniest of rooms with these smart decor choices and small space solutions.
These rooms show you that small spaces can be super efficient without sacrificing style.

I hope you find these ideas useful and inspiring to you ...... Enjoy it !!

Nesting tables are perfect for squeezing a lot of storage out of minimum space. Pull out the lower table when you need an extra surface for holding drinks or reading material, then tuck it away when you're done. On the lower shelf, a stylish fabric covered bin keeps DVDs accessible but contained.

Set a casual, family friendly mood for meal times by mixing and matching chair styles. In this dining room, a bench accommodates multiple people and takes up less space than a group of individual chairs. The pieces around the table can easily segue into the living room for hosting a crowd.

In an open living room, create subtle division with a shelving unit. This floor to ceiling bookshelf separates the open floor plan into two distinct rooms while offering ample display space.

Transform the often-unused space at the top of the stairs into a destination. Built in bench seating capitalizes on the sunny window of this second floor landing, creating a cozy reading retreat. Divided compartments under the bench cushion provide clever storage for reading material.

This bedroom uses the space under the bed for storage. But, rather than allowing that space to become a tangle of stuff, well made drawers with dividers keep clothes neat.

Most people slap a coat of white paint onto their ceiling and call it quits, but creative use of the space can reap room enlarging results. A beamed ceiling takes this room to new heights, while board and batten paneling adds substance to the room's sherbet color palette.

Turn a closet or nook into a work zone. In this space, drapery panels slide along a curtain rod to make it easy to conceal the clutter. Even without an architectural niche or bay, you can duplicate this effect by curtaining off an area across the width of a room just hang the drapes from a rod or thin wire suspended from the ceiling.

Opting for a narrow, shallow refrigerator netted more counter and shelf space in this compact kitchen. A tall cabinet with a mix of shelves and deep drawers maximizes storage space.

Get big style from a small space through careful design. Tall cabinets stretch to the ceiling, and a mixture of light woods and reflective stainless steel keeps the space clean and open.

Reclaim wasted space under a staircase for storage. Wide-trim molding turns these staggered shelves into a strong architectural feature. Baskets add eye pleasing texture as they keep linens and other kitchen odds and ends corralled.

Refresh Home Update with Budget Decorating Ideas

Refresh your home decor for less with these budget decorating ideas from designers, bloggers, and our editors.

You'll love these ideas to try in 2014!
I hope you find these ideas useful and inspiring to you ...... Enjoy it !!

Painted the same color, mismatched secondhand dining chairs look happy together. Use white for a simple look, or embolden your dining room by painting the chairs a deep, rich color.

Remove the jackets, then group books by color, standing some upright and stacking others. Shelves will seem more organized and have an artistic, color blocked look.

A pair of oversize urns is a foolproof scheme for a mantel. It's easy and a little glam, especially if the urns are a great color.

Make an easy table runner for your next get together with assorted paper napkins. Lay out napkins (we used lunch size, but cocktail size would also work) in your desired design, tape the edges together, and flip it over.

In place of a predictable coffee table, use two inexpensive side tables. Outline the edges with strips of nailhead trim for a high end look.

A corbel is a clever perch for an accessory. Try painting it a bright color to draw attention to whatever you put on it.

Cheery dish towels are a super inexpensive way to bring a little zing into the kitchen. I always find great towels at World Market and Anthropologie.

Plants are an underappreciated decorating tool. They bring life and color to a room, they're relatively inexpensive, and they're good for you, too.

Have a card you can't bear to throw away? Put it in a frame or easier yet perch it on a little easel, and you've got art.

Thinking about buying a new lamp, pillow, or throw? Don't bring it home unless it will work in at least two rooms.

Add one woven or wicker chair to a room. Spray paint it a great color, and you have both seating and an element of surprise.

An extra large mat is a simple trick for giving a small photo or piece of art big presence.

They've been around forever, but candle sconces are still brilliant for adding ambience without calling an electrician.

For a new take on a bulletin board, wrap twine around a lampshade in a crisscross pattern, then tuck in pictures and paper mementos.

Style on a Budget Decorating : House Tour from BHG

Take a cue from this home and see how easy it can be to rework remnants, castoffs, and closeouts into stylish, personality-filled home decor.

From the outside, this Colonial style home looks about like any other. But one step inside reveals a carefully accumulated collection of furniture and accessories purchased from yard sales, closeout sales, and antiques shops that have all been updated and brought to life with paint, upholstery, and other decorative touches.

Inspired by the bold pattern blue and white area rug, a navy blue accent wall adds dramatic appeal to the home?s living space. Hits of high contrast white, including the coffee table and fireplace surround, brighten the room. Simple white curtain panels make a window that lacks molding look finished. The homeowner hung the window draperies high and wide to make the window seem larger.

Look online to score deals. This pair of bookcases, an online score, was given new life with a coat of soft blue paint. Paired together, the units create a focal point along one wall of the living room and offer plenty of storage and display space. The backs of the bookcases were painted navy to help tie the units in with the area rug and accent wall.

Give a mismatched group of furniture a cohesive look with paint. Here, a thrift store cabinet, painted white to match other living room furniture, serves as a media console. The doors of the cabinet feature a motif similar to that of the area rug, which helps tie the piece in with the rest of the living room. Different size black and white images hung above the TV add height and make use of old frames the homeowner had on hand.

A variety of gold accessories scattered throughout the home?s living space lends glamorous appeal. Here, a dramatic gold mirror frame makes use of empty wall space. Use gold paint or gold leaf to give ordinary objects sparkle. A small half moon shape console table below the piece provides a bit of additional display space and visually grounds the mirror.

Mix and match furniture by relocating pieces from different spaces. In the casual breakfast nook, a hand-me-down table is paired with chairs that originally came with the dining room table. An outdated yard sale chest was painted black to match the chairs. Designer fabric snagged from a remnant bin was used to create the zippy curtains that add character to the neutral space.

With the dining room chairs relocated to the breakfast nook, a bench was introduced for seating in the formal dining room. Thrift-store chairs painted white and reupohlstered with fabric to match the drapes serve as additional seating. The final look is an eclectic, unpexpected alternative to the basic matching dining room set. A former TV console now serves as a handy buffet, topped with lamps that were updated with spray paint and new shades.

No guilt, no fuss is the feeling in the master bedroom, where simple white bedding and cool gray walls allow for easy redecorating for pocket change. The clean lined four poster draws the eye upward and toward the unique ceiling treatment. White painted dressers flanking the sides of the bed work overtime as both nightstands and clothing storage space.

DIY Tasks That Can Transform Your Living Room On A Budget

DIY Tasks That Can Transform Your Living Room On A Budget

Every living room needs a change every once in a while. It is normal for people to get bored of seeing one and the same place which looks exactly the same way all the time. It's better for our comfort to put some effort from time and time and make small changes at home. This will make us feel better about spending time in the living room and will create a much more pleasant, attractive and interesting environment. However, most people can't afford it to make changes at home as often as they would like to. Well, there are good news – the process doesn't always involve spending tons and messing up your budget. Here are our do-it-yourself tips on how to improve your living room and give it a great new look on a budget.

Repaint And Decorate Walls

A great way to make a nice change in the living room is to repaint the walls. Paint is usually inexpensive. You can find a range of brands on the market, so you can easily choose among them. Buy a warm tone that will liven and lighten up the room a bit. Also, there is a number of tricks and designs you can play with and make the most of the walls in your living room. If you decide to be even more creative, you can use thinner paint brushes and paint a nice figure yourself. Use your imagination and make the walls so beautiful that they give you a great vibe when spending time at home.

Another way to decorate your walls is to use wall stickers. There is a huge variety of types on the market, that it's impossible not to find the one that you would really love to place on one of your living room wall.

Decorate With DIY Artwork

To liven up your living room even more, bring some colour into it and make it a bit more playful. There is a great and super easy piece that you can do yourself, put in a frame and hang on the wall. What you need is a canvas (the size is up to you), crayons, glue and a hair dryer. Glue crayons one next to another on the top end of the canvas. Then use your hair dryer to melt them, letting the splashes of colour flow down the canvas. You can also write or draw something inspirational on the bottom of the canvas. There are great crayon art designs on the Internet that you could check and get inspired to try it out too.

Photo Table

A bare top of a table is simply boring. An amazing and very inexpensive way to make a nice change in your living room is to display photos on your table. What you need is a piece of glass that is cut to the size of the table. Then tuck photos, postcards or anything else you like and enjoy drinking your coffee at a great and creative table. Be sure to place the table on an appropriate place. BestCleanersLondon carpets are the best choice.

Plants

If there aren't any plants in your living room, it is probably about time to change that. Buy flowers and put them in a nice vase to bring a lovely spirit encouraged by a nice natural scent. You can also place a bigger plant in a pot on the floor. Greenery always brings a nice touch to a place.

How To Redecorate Your Home On A Budget - IDEA INTERIOR DESIGN

Small Changes that Make the Biggest Impact: If you are looking to redecorate your home on a budget, consider these tips which require minimal cost and time, but provide maximum impact to any room:

    * Painting: This might seem obvious, but painting a room is the number one way to change its appearance. If you want a peaceful tone in a room, pastels in blues, greens and yellows can instantly make your room a haven of tranquility. If you're going for a more vibrant, energetic feel, brighter hues such as reds or oranges can give this effect. Sound like too much work? Consider an "accent wall". This is a wall that has a different color than rest of the walls in the room. You can then add little touches such as a shelf, picture, plant or that antique console or end table that you never knew what to do with. This wall can become the focal point of your room. You don't have to spend a fortune on paint either, and some of the "designer" brands are no better than the less expensive brands.

    * Slipcovers, cushion covers: If you have a couch or chair that has seen better days, but buying a new one is not in your decorating budget, you might want to try a slipcover. These come in various styles, fabrics & colors with some being loose-ftting & others that stretch & fit tightly over your couch or chair. Keep in mind that you can order custom-fitted slipcovers, but these are definitely more expensive than the regular, off-the-shelf variety. You would be amazed at the difference a slipcover can make in your entire room. Another alternative to a slipcover is a throw or afghan to drape across the back of your couch or chair. Also, just covering your cushions or buying new ones can breathe new life into a tired sofa and brighten up the room. Feeling ambitious? Visit your local fabric store & check out the variety of upholstery fabrics available. You could try just covering your sofa cushions or pillows, or cover the entire couch or chair. There is plenty of information online or in books on reupholstering furniture.

    * Small Touches: As mentioned above, decorating your home on a budget doesn't mean having to spend all your free time doing it. Sometimes just clearing off a cluttered table and adding an inexpensive vase with some fresh (or silk) flowers can refresh a room. Shop around at consignment stores, flea markets and yard sales for second-hand furniture, vases, artwork, etc. If the furniture isn't in perfect condition, but has a few scratches, these can easily be covered with touch-up varnish kits or a coat of paint. Artwork & vases or other decorative items needn't be expensive to make a big difference. Go to a discount store and buy a new pair of inexpensive drapes or a valance to instantly revitalize a room. Window scarves can add a unique and sophisticated look to room as well. For a bathroom, just replacing your old, mildewy shower curtain with a new one can make a huge difference, or add a new throw rug, hand towels or other bathroom accessories instead of doing an all-out remodel.

Create an Oasis No Matter How Small: As a mom to a pre-schooler, I'm no stranger to clutter. And when I look around and see clutter, I immediately start feeling stressed. Since I can't keep my home perfect, or even close, I've found that just clearing off one area, such as my coffee or dining room table(especially if I've been meaning to do it for a long time), can change my mood instantly. Just having one area of calm without clutter, can be an instant mood-lifter.

Also, rearranging the furniture from time to time can breathe new life into a room and open up space you didn't know you had. Indoor fountains and candles are another way to add to your "mini-oasis", and I'm a big fan of both. Nothing is as relaxing as water, and an indoor fountain set either on the floor(the dog or cat may want to use it as his personal circulating water bowl, however), or on your newly-cleared off tabletop can be the perfect calming touch and can also make a big change in the room. To go with your budget decorating, there are many inexpensive indoor fountains available. Place a candle near your fountain and you will instantly create a calm and relaxed mood in your room without breaking the bank. Hanging wind chimes near an open window or a ceiling fan can be very calming. I know all of this may sound a bit like "feng shui", and in fact incorporates some of the elements of it. It might not sound like redecorating, but the point is that small changes can make a big difference in your home and in your mood.

5 Steps to Creating the Home Dreams- IDEA INTERIOR DESIGN

Whether your home consists of 2 rooms or 20, your home should make you smile, feel like a big warm hug and be the place for you that you'd rather be than anywhere else! As you go about the process of making your house your home don't be as concerned with "decorating" in the traditional sense as you are with "creating" a home that reflects your sense of style and is pleasing to you. Above all, fill your home with love, joy, peace, compassion and warmth!

Trends come and go so focus on what will work for you and your family. Keep in mind that creating a home is a process that must not be rushed. Creating a home requires time, effort, thought, consideration, and patience. Your home will be ever changing as you grow through life. So....relax and ENJOY the journey!

   1. Surround yourself with the things you love. It is better to live with an empty space than to fill it with things you don't love. Take time to go through your home and identify the items you love and the ones you don't. Of the items you don't love, get rid of what you can and begin planning to replace or makeover what you can't get rid of right away. Some items, like a sofa or a bed, may take awhile to replace. What can you do to make them more appealing in the meantime? A slipcover? A coat of paint? There is always a creative solution to make items more "loveable".

   2. Focus on creating spaces that work for you and your family. Creating a home that accommodates your unique lifestyle is a priority. Rethink your rooms in terms of the activities that go on in that particular space or the activities you would like to accommodate in that space. Creating spaces for family meals-a table with plenty of chairs, for homework-a desk with adequate lighting and comfortable chair in a quiet area, for quiet time, family game night, may require some rearranging and reassigning of spaces in order to make your home work for you. If there's not a place for "it", "it" will most likely not happen.

   3. Bring in colors and patterns that make you happy. Consider how you want to feel in each room-happy, relaxed, energized-and infuse colors and patterns into that space that make you feel that way. I've included lots of sunny yellow and colorful floral patterns in my homebecause that's what makes me (and my hubby) feel happy, peaceful and energized. The "experts" say to never use yellow in a bedroom because it's an energetic color. I chose yellow for my bedroom because I want to be energized when I wake up. I want to feel like the sun is shining even when it's not. When I go to bed at night I turn the lights off and close my eyes, therefore the yellow walls don't keep me awake. You must do what works for you!

   4. Consider your God given senses.
Sight, sound, smell touch and taste are all gifts God has given us. They are a very important part of everyday life. If we forget to include them we miss out on many delights.
Sight can be satisfied by selecting only items you love to look at to furnish your home and by making sure you have plenty of ample lighting.
Sound plays a very important role in influencing the mood and tone in your home. Beautiful music, laughter, positive words spoken in love all create a positive atmosphere of peace, joy and love. Whereas, "trash TV", yelling and screaming, and angry harsh words create a negative atmosphere of tension, stress, discord and hopelessness. It is important to never underestimate the power of the sounds in your home! The sense of smell is another strong influence in the home.
Scent brings back memories. My children all recall the "scents of home"...favorite meals like corned beef and cabbage, brownies, candles in the scent of the beach roses from our favorite family get away spot, my perfume and their daddy's aftershave. What scents bring back happy memories for you?
The sense of touch is especially important when considering upholstery fabrics and bedding. Soft and snugly is much preferred to stiff and scratchy. Flooring is another area to consider touch. Tile floors can be cold and uncomfortable in a bedroom for instance, whereas a soft cushy rug under your bare feet is so much more comfortable. Where can make adjustments for a more comfortable home in the area of "touch"?
Taste is a consideration when planning your meals. Little things like adding fresh herbs to your favorite jar of spaghetti sauce add a depth of flavor that will delight your taste buds. There are many ways to "doctor up" fresh vegetables and basic dishes to give them a more pleasing and satisfying flavor.

   5. Details are the "little" things that make a big difference The details you add to your home are what add another layer of your unique personality to your home. Do you have any collections? I collect teacups. I have lots of them, each one a unique work of art. I have them displayed in cabinets, on shelves and in vignettes on tabletops. I use some in my bedroom to hold earrings and makeup items. I also have lots of books. Books are everywhere....stacked under side tables and the fireplace hearth and in bookshelves. Anyone can walk into my home and immediately identify my interests by observing the books displayed throughout my home. My collections are pieces of my personality reflected in my home. Other details to include when creating your home are artwork and family photos seasonal décor, creative vignettes on a side table, a dresser or a mantle. Fresh flowers are a detail I especially enjoy in my home. Think of these details as the jewelry that adds the sparkle and flair to your home.
